We Have Baby Speaks!
Posted by Jaynee
Baby Jesse Speaks was born at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. He weighed in at 7 lbs 5 oz and was 20 1/4 inches long. He has a little bit of dark brown hair and a perfectly round head since he was born via c-section. Speaking for myself, I’m happy he was born now, since if it had been a traditional pregnancy and gone full-term, Jesse had another month of baking to go and would have been HUGE.
Mom and baby (and Beau) are doing well.
Hopefully I’ll have pictures to post in a couple days! - new parents don’t waste time! Pictures in the extended entry…
Update at 11:23 a.m.: A bit more info now that I’ve got more time. Jen had bleeding last night around 1 a.m. and the doctors wasted no time in getting her prepped for surgery as promised last time she had a bleed. Jesse was born two hours later and had a little bit of fluid in his lungs, so they are keeping an eye on him in NICU just to make sure. Jen hasn’t actually held him yet (or hadn’t when I talked to her at 10 a.m.) because soon after delivery they dosed her up with meds which made her conk out for a few hours. As of that phonecall they were just waiting a bit longer to make sure Jen doesn’t have any immediate complications from the c-section before they allow her to go up to NICU and hold Jesse. Beau and Marmie did visit Jesse in the NICU and verified that he’s quite pink and looks healthy, and doctors confirmed that he most likely would have surpassed the 10 lbs mark if he had gone full-term. Ouch!
