There’s a promo running on E!, for True Hollywood Story (I’m too lazy to look for a link, sorry). The next victim profile is Katie Couric and there are two things that bug me about the ad:

1. It’s run way too often.
2. They ask, “Why does everyone love Katie Couric?”

And there’s a clip of Willard saying how much she hates to be called “perky.”

I have a news flash - I don’t love Katie Couric. I didn’t love her when I watched The Today Show (which I no longer do). I’ve always thought she was slightly annoying and a little too precious - it’s that perky thing. (I hate that as much as she does.)

I’m sure she’s a nice lady. I know she endured the sad loss of her husband and that she has done good work in educating people about his disease. She’s a reasonably good TV personality, I suppose. I just don’t care to see an ad for a gossipy show about her rise to fame and wealth five or six times in an hour.
