She chose wisely, imho.

The following snap assessment of the Martha-Alexis relationship is show spoilerish. Look away if you haven’t seen the show yet (Mom).

My favorite part of the episode was when Martha, Charles, and Alexis were in their car on the way to visit both charity events/tasks. Martha and Alexis were in the backseat and Alexis was saying some pretty inciteful insightful stuff about the two finalists while Martha busily played with her Blackberry.

Alexis: Are you listening to me or are you emailing?

Martha, without looking up: I’m listening.

The look that Alexis then gave her mother was pure ice. Only Martha was oblivious and grinning like an idiot at her toy.

There’s a lot going on with that mother and daughter.

Anyway, I liked the show and I’m mildly sad that there won’t be another season. I guess I’ll be reduced to the train-wreck of her daytime show, for however long that lasts.
