Tuesday mornings are the worst of the week with regard to traffic around this area. It’s a given every week, the commute will be the longest on Tuesday mornings. This morning was no exception. Add a little rain to the day and it’s an adventure!

My total drive time was 1 hour 45 minutes. My roomie left 20 minutes after me, but she made up a ton of time because of her g-ride and being able to take HOV. She passed me at one point, but I caught her because I drive further down Fairfax Co Parkway than she does. I’ve told her my way was faster, I think this morning convinced her. I was maybe a mile ahead of her on the Beltway when I hit the slowdown approaching the Telegraph Road exit. I called to advise her to take Eisenhower, which turned out to be worse than staying on the Beltway. She arrived at the office 20 minutes after I did. Oops.

My boss, who drove up from the Norfolk area this morning, arrived about 30 minutes after I did. It took him a little over 2 hours to go the last 18 miles, poor guy.

People, if you’re thinking of moving to the DC area, rethink that idea. Between the traffic and housing costs, it’s not worth it.
