TAR9: [Title TBD 2] Edition
I chose sleep last night instead of watching TAR live. That 10pm time slot is a killer for the pregnant lady.
I have choir practice tonight and will not be able to watch it tonight. And there’s LOST and AI to contend with anyway.
I will try to watch it in the morning before I leave for my extra ultrasound appointment so that I can recap it for you later.
OK, here ya go. The title for this edition of The Race is “Maps are Your Friends.”
***SPOILERS***
1. As Jaynee said, I love that the hippies wore “Bowling” “Moms” t-shirts. Too funny.
2. She also commented about how brilliant the producers are with their editing. I also enjoyed the dry wit of Blondie bragging about how she’s no dumb blonde right after she mispronounces Palermo is such a way that I didn’t think possible. That her rocket scientist boyfriend */sarcasm* then called it Palomino at the airline ticket counter was doubly hilarious. The looks on the ticket agents’ faces were priceless.
3. How can we make Lake go away? Argh, I cannot stand that guy. I was very amused when Michelle was trying to encourage him at the airport by talking about how they will win because he never makes mistakes. Bwahahahahahaha… There is a team every season that you wish gets Philiminated every week and yet they manage to make close to the end. Except for the season when Flozach managed to make it to the Winner’s Mat. Oh the pain.
4. Continue to love the Love Nerds. I was feeling for her when she agonized over the building of the statue and the extra two pieces. That sneaky Phil!
5. Did anyone notice Ray/Yolanda using any maps? Because I didn’t see them using any maps. So how the heck did they expect to get where they needed to go otherwise? Oy vey.
6. Oh, yeah, another producer thing - loved the shot of Lake/Michelle and the hippies at the internet kiosks trying to book tickets to Palomino Palermo. Michelle struggling with the German websites and then one of the hippies (I can’t get their names straight for some reason) says, “English” as he clicks the mouse. So the hippies get a great flight booked online where Lake/Michelle have to wait for the ticket counters to open. Love that! Love that they got the last tickets on that flight, too.
7. Detour - Foundry or Laundry. I definitely would have opted for the laundry. It seemed to me that teams could have worked a little faster on that task than they did. Maybe Race Fatigue is kicking in after the last marathon leg? Foundry looked faster (and seemed to be) but killer.
8. And we’re back with the Yield. I have to agree that Lake/Michelle’s Yielding of the Twin Danis seems a bit of a waste since there was another team out there somewhere, but whatever. That Lake/Michelle mistook the columned ruin that ended up being the Pit Stop for the theater that was the Roadblock was especially pathetic since Lake never makes mistakes.
9. Roadblock - assemble the Greek statue puzzle thingy with the two extra pieces of doom. Most teams got to the two extra pieces, asked the archeologist-clue holder person if they had it right anyway, and were rewarded with their clue. Poor Love Nerd Lori opted to try to actually make the two extra pieces fit before even bothering to ask the clue holder person. Poor Lori being duped like that. Somehow Ray/Yolanda arrived after the Twin Danis finished their Yield time and managed to finish the statue before the Danis. Which meant a foot race to the Pit Stop.
10. I was happy the hippies got to the Mat first. I’ll be curious to see how much time is between they and the last teams. I’m thinking it’s quite a bit. I’m thinking there will be some major bunching in the next episode to level things back out too, dang it. And the Danis lose to Ray/Yolanda to the Mat and are Philimated, where upon Phil asks about their hooking up with the Slackers (whom I did not mention on purpose because we hates them). Ugh.
Next week: Ditzy Jo has a meltdown. I can’t wait!
