TAR9: Hippie Channels Buddy-the-Elf Edition
Here it is - the long awaited recap of this week’s episode of The Amazing Race. Rather than use the placeholder from yesterday, where several of you have been having fun in the comments, I decided to create a new post.
I left work early yesterday because I was completely out of it - got home and took a nap - woke up a new woman, sort of. I had enough time to watch TAR before I needed to go to choir practice at church. I’m not sure how many details I’ll remember to mention, so feel free to add your assessment in the comments.
Clicky linky for the rest…
***SPOILERS***
1. Leaving Moscow - As much as I dislike Lake, I thought it was harsh that they were mere seconds behind the Slackers for the flight to Frankfurt and weren’t let on. Airport bunching ensured that all teams would be leveled out again and I can’t help but wonder how much time the earlier teams lost on the slowpokes.
So the Slackers ended up with a huge time advantage over most of the teams, but the dreaded HoOp bunch at the Mercedes track kept them from getting too far ahead.
2. Maybe it’s the pregnancy, but that Mercedes track task did not look as fun to me as I think I would have thought it pre-pregnancy.
3. Detour - I loved that detour. I loved the bottle breaking and I loved the slap dancing. I do think the slap dancing judges were not tough enough with some of the teams before giving them their clues, though. Mostly I loved that they had to put on the liederhosen - hilarious. Except for hippie dude who was going commando (that’s sans undies, Mom). Gross. Also gross was the Slackers hitting on the German chicks who handed out the clue for the bottle breaking side.
4. Roadblock - find the Travelocity™ g-nome buried in the field. Not as challenging at the clue in the haystack, thankfully. Desiree lost track of where she was - Race fatigue had probably set in as well because that was a long leg. Did she 4 days at the Mat? Ouch.
5. Pit Stop - And the Slackers arrive first *yawn* and win a vacation to Africa. Priceless was Phil’s face when Slacker dude mentioned the Dani Twins and tonsil wrestling in the same breath. Double gross. Those guys become more unattractive by the minute. Gack.
The Hippies arrive and the dark one took one look at the German dude with Phil and in his best Buddy-the-Elf voice says, “Santa!” As the commenters in the previous post said in the comments, laugh out loud funny.
I was happy to see the Love Nerds move up from last at the TBC fake Pitstop in Moscow to fifth at the real Pitstop. The Oldsters did well in this leg, too. I like them.
So the last two teams were the Dani Twins and Team Hysteria (Wanda/Desiree), who decided to team up together on this leg with disastrous results. The Danis managed to get to the Philimination Mat first which mean that Team Hysteria was Philiminated. I like Desiree, but Wanda drove me nuts.
