TAR5 League, Week 4 Results
I had a very good night last night. By my count, I only got one question wrong on the quiz, but I haven’t checked the game forum page yet to see how the Quizmaster scored this week’s quiz.
The results:

I have a lot of thoughts about the episode, but I’ll post them in a minute. And they’ll be in the “Still Speaking” section.
UPDATE (11:00am): My thoughts on the episode are now posted (spoiler heavy)- click the link.
***SPOILERS AHEAD - you’ve been warned***
Mirna is a lawyer - yowzah. And she’s got a mean streak in addition to a princess complex. I’m curious what the players know about each other that would make her call Colin a criminal when he ticked her off at the bus station. I’m liking her less with each episode, although Charla I like. For the entertainment factor I hope they last a few more legs in the race.
Colin/Christie played the bus station well and then the whole “keeping their numbers” thing was wacky. I’m not sure where I fall on that one - I can see keeping the original order from the other bus line, but then again The Brothers got the whole move to the express bus line going when they saw Colin/Christie were going to wait at the other place. Brandon/Nicole (Christians, dating) played the airport well - I was kind of amused that everyone just assumed that they were in an alliance because Colin bought the four teams’ bus tickets. Make no assumptions, people. It’s a race.
The Detour - Block 5 Shots/Drink 1 Shot: Cool detour. I would have drunk the shot because it was clearly the faster option. I kind of rolled my eyes a bit when they showed Brandon getting all pious about his faith and not wanting to do the shot of vodka. But I’m more liberal than a lot of Christians when it comes to alcohol, although I’m not a drinker. I just don’t think one shot of vodka is damaging to your faith - and it’s a race - you’re in a hurry, so it’s not like you’re going to be sitting at a bar drinking all night long. It’s one shot.
However, several teams opted for the hockey thing. Charla in the hockey gear was amusing. Did anyone else think the hockey player took it easy on the girls with his slapshots? He was hurling them in there at Brandon/Nicole, but the other teams seemed to get softer shots.
The Roadblock: Two pounds of caviar? That is a lot of caviar for one person to eat even if they like caviar. I loathe caviar so I was feeling for the racers who were having to eat it. I think I’d rather eat live bugs. That said, this is where a few people really impressed me:
Colin/Brandon: their girlfriends were trying to eat the stuff and having a hard time. I liked that both men were supportive and sympathetic to their chicks. They didn’t browbeat the girls or complain that they weren’t eating it fast enough. These were the two teams that were leading the pack when they got to the roadblock. Those guys easily could have really lost their cool, but instead they both became gentle and loving to the women they’re dating. So, thanks for not being jerks, guys. I think their attitudes helped the gals gut it out to finish the task and I liked that Colin was man enough to admit that he didn’t think he could have done it and was proud of Christie.
Chip was the stud of the task because he pounded that stuff down in record time and was well rewarded with his first place arrival at The Mat.
This is where I was wondering why no one broke out the Fast Forward or the Yield. That would have been the perfect time to use one of those and I kept waiting for Brandon/Nicole to at least discuss it. So now I’m wondering if any of the teams will use those at all, it’s almost as if they’ve forgotten they’re there.
This is a scrappy group of racers. They seem to be pretty evenly matched now that Bob/Joyce were Philiminated. It’s going to get really interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks to get us to the final three teams.
