Secondhand Lions

I’m way behind on my movie viewing from when CootieBoy was born. I finally got around to watching Secondhand Lions last night.

A coming-of-age story about a shy, young boy sent by his irresponsible mother to spend the summer with his wealthy, eccentric uncles in Texas.

I remember when the trailers came out for this movie last fall. I was very interested in seeing it because I’m a huge fan of Robert Duvall. I also really like Haley Joel Osment and Michael Caine.

Secondhand Lions is a sweet family movie that’s much more than I expected it to be - it’s touching and funny and adventurous. I love the old men. I love how they are with the boy. I love watching the boy flourish while he’s living with the old men.

I was impressed with Caine’s American south accent - I never noticed any flaws to it and I actually forgot it was Caine a few times. And Haley Joel Osment is still very cute and quite a good actor. I don’t need to say much about Duvall - ya’ll know he’s brilliant, right?

I highly recommend this movie. It’s rated PG and I think kids will enjoy it too.
