Question #2 Answered
The second in a series of questions posed by readers. This from Gwynne.
I’d like to hear more about the various places you have lived and which you liked best and why.
Gee, there are so many. Please allow me to refer you to my 100 Things list; item 15 to be specific. I’m lazy that way and I believe they’re all listed there (along with 99 other things about moi).
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I know it’s weird, but I like it here in northern Virginia. I gripe about the two things that are the worst about the area - traffic and housing costs. OK, there’s the heat and humidity of summer, but that only lasts for three months and I live and work in blessed air conditioning so I can deal. What I like is my job, which is cool even though it’s federal employment, which I swore I would never do. I also like that I’m near my family and I love my new church. And while I don’t go down there often enough, I like being near DC because there is plenty to do in the city.
Also, and this may seem odd, I like my hometown sports teams and that I can watch them whenever I want because they’re always on. When I lived in New Hampshire it was tough to get Redskins games or Orioles games because Boston was the hometown. It’s how I came to be a Red Sox fan.
Which destinations are on the top of your travel wish list?
Alaska is tip top. Actually, I would like to visit more of the good ole USA before I head overseas. We have a very large, diverse country and there are plenty of places to explore here at home. Which leads to…
And not that I expect you to divulge specifics, but generally, where will you and Beau go on your honeymoon?
Arizona - no secret there. It’s a large state and there are a lot of options for site seeing. We plan to do quite a few of them.
It would also be fun to know from whence all of your blurking blog friends come (e.g. are all 7 continents represented? How about all 50 states?).
Well, I can name a few places: Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tenessee, New Jersey, Montana, Idaho, California, Massachusetts, Missouri, Colorado to name a few. Any from others that I did not name can feel free to chime in in the comments.
