Of course, the biggest life change coming is the new baby in two months. However, there are a couple of new changes coming, too.

Last night we went to our church for GroupLink - the event that puts small groups together. Our group has completed our 18 months run and it was time to determine the future of our group. Since we were a small small group of 3 couples, we had the option of continuing together and adding folks to make it larger. But what’s interesting is that all three couples were ready and needed changes, so we naturally disbanded and have moved on to new groups. It’s interesting because this is exactly how GroupLink is designed to work and where we were skeptical of this when we started together, it’s cool to see how God has grown us as a group and as couples and even individuals.

Anyway, Beau and I went in completely open to a couple of options. Our budget doesn’t allow for weekly babysitting for small group. So we either needed a small group that offered childcare or we were going to look for single sex groups that meet on different nights so that one of us is with the kids. A guy on the worship team leads a mixed/married adult group on Sunday nights, but the location was a bit further than we wanted to drive even on a Sunday. The other couples groups were way too far away. So we headed to the single sex areas to scope out the offerings and it turns out we plugged into groups almost immediately.

Beau found some men who meet on Thursday. It’s an already existing group that was open to new members and since he knew a couple of the guys already and they look to study the Bible more deeply, he signed up. I discovered a former roommate from my single days was leading a group of women on Monday nights and since she lives only about 10 minutes from my house, it was a no brainer to sign up with her group. I think we’re both excited about the possibilities for our new small groups. I know that I am looking forward to getting tighter with a few women in our church.

The other change possibility is the potential of that new job for me. I still haven’t heard anything further and it could be a couple more weeks before I do. But we’re trying now to work out logistics in the event that I do get that position, mostly because my commute will be slightly longer and I also won’t be able to work from home at all (at least in the beginning - I’ll try to make the case for telework if the job will allow for it).

I’m looking forward to seeing how the next couple of months play out.
