From the DVR: The Office
I finally got the chance to watch the three episodes of The Office that I had to record because of our honeymoon and recent schedule.
What a bizarre little show. It’s uncomfortable and hilarious. While it is complete fiction, this sitcom has the feel of reality with deeply flawed characters led by the boss, Michael (Steve Carell). He’s the guy you really want to like, for some weird reason, but is so socially inept and borderline loathesome that you just can’t. The entire cast is perfect.
So, my thoughts on the last three episodes (spoiler warning):
1. What on earth possessed Jim to confide his crush on Pam to Michael, of all people? That said, I love that in the last episode it came up and was handled the way it was. I feared the loss of the tension between Jim and Pam and they way they brought that back was fantastic. I love them.
2. Dwight is easily the creepiest dude on TV. But I love him. When he became “normal” as a result of his concussion, I was cracking up.
3. I loved the scene in the episode where Michael burned his foot on his George Foreman grill where he brought in the guy in the wheelchair to discuss people with disabilities. Priceless.
The companion website for Dunder-Mifflin is awesome as is Dwight’s blog.
Great show.
