Tired & Funny

I’m super tired today. No clue why because I went to bed at 9pm last night and that was after a nap through NCIS, too. My sleep was restless - our room was a little too warm - so I tossed and turned quite a bit, but that’s been the norm lately. Anyway, I have choir practice at church tonight and I have a feeling I’ll be singing in my sleep unless I catch a great second wind today.

In the funny category is Mr. Kitty. He makes us laugh daily mostly because he’s so easy to provoke into an attack. He loves to pounce on anything under a blanket and will often continue to pounce long after we’ve removed the hand or foot he was attacking. He also had this long wand with a bell and feathers that he adored. I noticed yesterday morning that he had pulled the last feather out of the end, so when I was at Target yesterday I bought him a new one. When I presented it to him last night his reaction was amazing. He grabbed the feather end between his front paws, laid on the wand part, and proceeded to lick, lick, lick, lick, lick, etc. the feathers until they were soaked. When I left for work this morning he was sleeping on it - feathers peeking from under his pink nose.

The funny that got to me yesterday involved Annie. She makes it clear when her water bowl is empty by making noise with it. I’ve never been able to see what it is she does to make that particular noise until yesterday. Because she’s pretty much deaf I managed to get into the kitchen to find her hovering over the bowl with a paw in it, scratching away. The additional noise was her tags clinking against the side of the bowl. Too funny.

  1. When the cat food bowl is empty in our house, Ginger will begin tipping it in order to alert us.  And she always does it at 3 a.m. and will continung tipping it until one of the humans gets up and fills the bowl.  In the old house she’d push it against the wall in the attic and tip it so that it banged the wall.  Since it was an open attic we could easily hear it from our bed on the second floor.  In the apartment she only has to make it bang up and down on the kitchen floor since it’s tile.  I can’t wait until we move into the new house because the food will be in the laundry room behind a closed door - so the humans snug in their bed on the second floor will NEVER HEAR IT and she’ll be forced to wait ‘til morning.
