Sometimes You Just Can’t Wait for Christmas
So one of the needed items on Jesse’s Christmas list is a winter coat. With the cold snap lately, I’m reluctant to wait another month for that necessary item - also not knowing if it was going to be under the tree at all. So I did some quick and dirty shopping at Walmart.com and found a good coat (size 3T, so maybe he’ll be able to wear it next winter, too) for only $15.00. Nice.
If anyone already bought a winter coat for him for Christmas, please accept my apologies for getting ahead of things. Sometimes waiting isn’t prudent. A second coat would be nice for options, though.
Beau took Jesse for a walk and some run around time at the park. We bundled him up as much as possible, but really a fleece sweatshirt isn’t going to do much against a stiff wind in 30 degree temps. We think the wind chill this morning put the temp in the 20s. He did have on a hat and mittens and wasn’t out for more than an hour, but that’s still a long time with little protection against bitter cold.
Pictures were taken and will be posted here later.
I got Josh’s a few weeks ago at Target for right around that. I may have gone too much with the sizing though (went for 18 months since I want him to wear it the whole winter...he’s in 12 now, but it sure seems like I could put two of him in that coat.) Ah well.
Still, I’ve been glad to have a way to bundle him up these past couple days...it’s gotten too cold too fast around here.
Question: I know they’re not supposed to wear coats in the car seat...how do you keep them from freezing when you try to wrestle them into the coat when you reach your destination?
Posted by beth on 11/21/08 at 01:09 PMYou know, we have always kept him in the coat in the carseat. We have broken a lot of rules with the kid, actually.
Posted by on 11/21/08 at 01:25 PMYou rebel rule-breakers, you. :) Ok...well, maybe we’ll be in for some rule breaking around here as well...cause I just cant’ figure out how to keep him warm while stuffing him in a coat at this age.
Posted by beth on 11/21/08 at 01:47 PMThat’s why we broke that rule. Beau said he thinks it’s because “they” want the kid secured tightly into the carseat, but you can still get the straps pretty tight even with the bulk of a coat on.

Posted by on 11/21/08 at 07:32 PMDang. That’s what I was afraid of. I’m sorry, Marmie.
