Sleep, of the Lack of It … The Saga Continues
This morning the time of wake up was 3:45. I woke up, too, but I think it was because he was tossing and turning. And it was warm in the room - warm enough that I had to throw a leg out from under the covers. The AC was on, but it must have cooled enough outside that it wasn’t needed.
Annie was panting a bit, but it wasn’t her loudest.
“Put her out of the room,” he said.
“And then the cat will start her barking,” I said. But I was willing to put her out of the room.
He lay there for a minute longer and then rolled out of bed and went to the recliner.
As soon as he closed the door behind him, she stopped panting and snuggled down for another 90 minutes. She woke me up with barks at about 5:25am.
Tonight we try the box fan for white noise. He wants to have it blowing on her, to keep her cool. I want to have it blowing towards the wall, just for noise. We’ll see who wins that one.
Oh dear. Good luck with the fan! You can try to have it blowing on her, but if she’s like my girls, she’ll just move elsewhere (unless she likes it).
I know someone else suggested earplugs as well - and you might consider them (well, Beau might consider them), but I can on add the caveat that I tried this at first when I was first married and all that would happen is they would fall out during the night and then I would wake up more often because the ear plugs had tricked me into a lighter sleep than normal.
Regardless, I hope you two can figure something out that’s good for everyone!

Posted by beth on 04/20/06 at 10:00 AMThere is no perfect solution, except for the complete removal of all pets from the home. And that ain’t happenin’.
So…
Posted by on 04/20/06 at 11:22 AMI find it amusing that she snuggled down as soon as he left.... Try the fan blowing on her first, and see how she likes it. Once she gets her haircut, she might not like it anymore, and you can moce the noise closer to Beau…

I know it’s supposed to be move.
Posted by on 04/20/06 at 11:36 AMAh the beauty of marital compromise. Let’s us know how the saga continues. Just wait till you have children.
Posted by on 04/20/06 at 11:45 AMThat’s what I keep telling him! If he thinks Annie is bad, crying babies are worse...and better, too.
Posted by on 04/20/06 at 12:00 PMHope the fan and ear plugs work. I’m a sound sleeper, so pet noises don’t bother me, but my husband will have none of that in the bedroom. If it comes down to the pet or the husband, we all know which comes first.
Possibly, Annie and Mr. Kitty will leave each other alone in the middle of the night. Have you tried it yet?
