Psalm 121
Beau got pseudo-official word yesterday that he will not get the job at PHC. And GMU has decided not to employ him in the fall, too.
This passage keeps coming to mind this morning.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.--Psalm 121
And the message our worship leader gave in church on Sunday is appropo as well - it was like God was speaking right to me, us, as he shared about his year of suffering and searching and how God has spoken to him - I’d link to it, but it’s not on the website yet. He preached since our pastor is with his family after the death of his brother. Please pray for them - his brother had cancer, but the loss is great after a year filled with too many deaths in their family.
Anyway, now seems to be a time to reevaluate since the doors have been slammed shut. We’re trying to hold fast to the knowledge that God is in control and has a plan. The blessing is to see how He has provided over the past couple of years and to know that He will continue to provide. He is good.
You both have my prayers. It’s good to know that you both find contentment in knowing that He will provide. Still, not knowing how (He will provide) can be extremely challenging! I wish you peace.
Posted by Gwynne on 04/01/08 at 02:35 PMPraying for your family. Psalm 121 is a great passage, and it is amazing how the Lord brings scripture to our attention just when we need it the most. May He bless you all.
Posted by on 04/01/08 at 06:32 PMWe’ll be praying for you, too.
And, just on the off chance . . . what is it that Beau does? (Since your abbreviations sound like academic institutions.)

Posted by on 04/01/08 at 08:30 PMThanks, y’all. We really do appreciate the prayer.
Beau has taught college Political Science for the past 8-9 years - only as adjunct. Primarily American Government and Political Theory. Some Con Law. And he taught an International Relations type course last semester.
Posted by on 04/01/08 at 08:38 PMPrayers are going up for you all from my end as well.
Posted by Pisco Sours on 04/02/08 at 06:16 AMWe’re still praying here, as well.
Has he looked into Marymount? Seems to me that when I was on their site a few weeks ago poking around idly (I do this periodically) that there was a poly-sci type position open.
Posted by beth on 04/02/08 at 02:10 PMThanks!
I’ll mention Marymount to him.
