New Celeb Couple
My first thought was - ew.
He’s 42. She’s 26.
Ew.
Although they are pretty together. But ... ew.
Hey there now...I was 28 and Jay 42 when we met…
Posted by Deb on 04/28/05 at 11:25 AMHmmm.
My apologies if I offended. Generally speaking, I think couples should be closer in age. Just my 2 cents.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 11:35 AMWhat! Does the age difference bother you? The general guide is that the woman be half the man’s age plus 7. So he’s not far off. For me, that means I should be looking for someone who’s 37. Not bad.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 12:15 PMJen,
Not offended at all. Just thought I’d tease you a bit.
I think there are some real benefits to keeping ages a little closer, I just didn’t manage it myself. Heh.
Posted by Deb on 04/28/05 at 12:36 PMUncle Bill, yuck!
Your nieces are that age, fer cryin’ out loud.
Deb, glad to hear it. And I do realize that there are exceptions to every rule. It’s just my own issue, I suppose.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 12:39 PMAnd plus that way I got someone young enough to produce several kids with me, instead of being lucky if we could have any at all.
Posted by Jay on 04/28/05 at 12:53 PMTrue dat.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 01:37 PMUncle Bill, I’ve heard “half plus seven” as the absolute MINIMUM below which it’s sketchy. This is, of course, right on the age.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 02:07 PMEdge. Right on the edge, I meant.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 02:08 PMSo let’s forget the fact that Tommy Boy has been in the business since she was a 1 year old?
Posted by Jaynee on 04/28/05 at 02:19 PMExactly! Ew.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 04:17 PMwell, my parents are 13 years apart, so it doesn’t bother me at all.
My first thought was, “Is this a publicity stunt??”
Posted by caltechgirl on 04/28/05 at 04:29 PMI think they met on the set of “Ricky Business 2: More Risky”
...so kidding!
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 04:49 PMI think I’d always be comparing myself to Penelope Cruz or Nicole Kidman, age difference to Tom aside.
Posted by princess jami on 04/28/05 at 04:54 PMShe’s also a better actor by far than he’ll ever be, though that’s a backhanded compliment: IMHO, he’s the weakest element of every single movie he’s been in except Risky Business. I can’t think of a single one where someone else wouldn’t have been better cast.
Posted by on 04/28/05 at 09:11 PMI’d rather my dearest Joey go unspoiled, but I suppose Tom is better than that vacant-eyed, airheaded nincompoop she was dating before.
