Made An Offer
We had a successful house hunting weekend and found a home that we put an offer on yesterday. It is an older home (40+ years) that has been renovated to make it much larger. It’s a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom split foyer style. Not my favorite, but I can live in this house easily. The kitchen needs a complete overhaul and there are some other cosmetic changes we’ll make in time, but of the many foreclosure homes we have looked at it is in the best shape. It is essentially move-in ready, which is a huge plus.
So I spent a long time on the phone with my bank to start the loan process and also with Countrywide (a Countrywide pre-approval is required, but we don’t have to get our loan with them).
And now we wait to see if our offer is accepted. There are other offers on the house, so we’re nervous but also excited!
[UPDATE (4:50pm)]: We didn’t get it. The bank accepted the other offer before we got our loan approval in. I’m ticked because it was a frustrating process with Countrywide, who demanded that we do the application online. Unfortunately, our network was super slow and bogged down this morning and it took forever for each page to load. It probably took twice as long to complete as a result. *sigh*
Great news on the house hunt - Perfect time for purchasing! As for your comment on the house being old at 40 years ....
Our house was built in 1910 - Now, *that* is old house my friend *lol*

Posted by on 09/29/08 at 12:32 PMDid your realtor give you an idea of how long it would take to get an answer?
Posted by Jaynee on 09/29/08 at 01:03 PMLooks great! Hope you get it.
Posted by Gwynne on 09/29/08 at 01:31 PMOur realtor thinks we’ll get some kind of answer tomorrow (Tuesday).
We were pre-approved by Countrywide for our offer amount and I’ll finish that process with my bank tomorrow since they take longer.
