Jesse Pics
I’m being asked for more pics of Jesse. We’re taking a lot, but to be frank with you, he looks identical in all of them. However, I do have a few to share today:

This one was taken in the hospital, on the first full day Jesse was out of the NICU. Beau and I walked over to the High Risk Perinatal Unit to show him off to the nurses who cared for me while I resided on that side of the 6th floor. I figured they needed to see the final result of their efforts to keep him inside as long as possible. Beau is a proud papa.

On Saturday, I was really tired and resting in the recliner. Beau had gotten a cup of tea for me and I was channel surfing. I must have dozed off in the process - note the still aimed remote in my right hand and the mug of tea in the left. When Beau took that picture I think I had been asleep for about 40-45 minutes. I woke up to see him holding the camera and laughing silently.

Jesse has this fuzz on his ears that makes me think of hobbit feet. So I’ve dubbed his ears Hobbit Ears. And I’m curious if that fuzz will remain permanently or will fall off eventually. He also has a downy peach fuzz on his shoulders, arms, and back - makes me wonder if he’ll be doomed to unsightly back hair as a man.
Great pictures, all of them, especially the one of you multi-tasking.
I’m sure the downy fuzz will fall off eventually…that was probably to keep him warm in the womb that he emerged from prematurely.
Posted by Gwynne on 01/24/07 at 01:01 PMAw, what sweet photos. Dunno what to say about the Hobbit-fuzz, but I’m thinking it’ll probably fall off, fret not.
Posted by beth on 01/24/07 at 01:35 PMCongratulations Jen - What cute pictures - Glad to hear everything went well and the c-section was not too harrowing.
The fuzz will all fall off (check webmd.com).Best of luck with everything!!!!!!!

I can’t believe how much hair he has!
Posted by caltechgirl on 01/24/07 at 03:19 PMHe is adorable! I’ve heard about the Hobbit fuzz, I believe it is one of those things that is on a baby as he grows in the womb, but is shed shortly before birth. Since Jessee couldn’t wait for his due date, he has a little extra decoration! He really is a cute little guy. Love the picture of you with the remote aimed! You’ll probably find that holding a sleeping baby makes you go to sleep often—it always has me!

Lovely photos, thanks for indulging us who have been hungry for photos, and baby blogging.

Posted by Janie on 01/24/07 at 11:43 PMOh! What a handsome little boy!
So thankful to hear that things are going well for all of you.
Posted by judy on 01/25/07 at 01:04 AMI keep forgetting he’s technically a premature baby. You wouldn’t know it from his size. And he does have a lot of hair. The last ultrasound we had before he was born showed his hair. At some point I’ll scan those shots and post them at Whiny Complaints.

Harper was covered with dark hair on her back when she came out. I can’t tell you how happy I was when THAT cleared up…Posted by Angie on 01/25/07 at 04:29 PMI think Jesse would look like Sasquatch if his peach fuzz was dark. His is white blond and kind of sweet right now.
Posted by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on 01/25/07 at 04:31 PMIt falls off eventually, I think. Cute kid!
Posted by Stephen Shores on 01/28/07 at 05:37 PMnever apologize for napping with a sleeping baby on your chest…better than 2 Unisom with a Nyquil Chaser. Rhythmic breathing and little baby body heat are God’s best tranquilizers.
Posted by Bryan on 01/31/07 at 09:08 PMSo adorable…aw…just want to hug you all.
