I’m Supposed to Be in the Air Right About Now

The morning started out great. I woke up with no problem when the alarm went off at 5am. Got my shower and breakfast with no vomiting. I managed to get out the door only 10 minutes later than planned and I arrived at the courthouse within the time frame I had given The Amazing One. We departed on time and got to the airport in good time considering rush hour traffic in Alexandria.

And then it got interesting. TAO and I went to separate check-ins, using the kiosk for self-check-in and shortly after she yelled over to me, “I’m getting that our flight is cancelled. What about you?” Yep. At that point an airline rep came out to announce that the flight to Phoenix was cancelled and gave instructions for passengers on that flight for booking a new flight.

The clerk in front of my typed (ala Meet the Parents) and then said, “Your new flight leaves at 5pm.” I asked if there were any earlier flights and she said no.

So TAO and I took a cab back to the courthouse where we both opted to spend the time waiting at home. Beau will take me back to the airport this afternoon and I’ll just meet TAO at our gate.

The kicker is that the clerk put me in a center seat, so I’ll have to get that changed when I get back to the airport because there is no way I can do a center seat in my condition. This is assuming that this later flight will actually depart. At this point I’m skeptical.

And I’m slightly ticked off that I’ll miss at least the first hour of 24 tonight since my flight gets in at about 8:30pm Phoenix time. At least I have the DVR working here at home.
