I Could Live Here
So knowing there’s always a chance that Beau will get the job that would involve a move to the Dallas area, I checked home listings in that area on Realtor.com.
They have several lovely single family homes in our price range.
I could definitely live in this house.
Or this one.
Or many of these, really.
Beau may get a job in Dallas and you are still going forward with looking for a house in the DC area? What’s driving this sudden search? It can’t just be the price of more affordable homes in your area. Are you nesting? Are you pregnant again?

Uncle Bill said we’d know whether or not Beau is in the running for the job in Dallas by the fall. We’re still looking here, but slowing the search down a bit. We figure if Beau doesn’t get the job for Dallas, then we can move ahead on placed we’ve looked at. If he does get the job in Dallas, then we’ll stop the search here and start the search there.

You don’t think those same houses are going to be available in the fall, do you?
I would drop the search altogether. Just visit open houses here and there on your own until the fall so you can see what your money gets and watch first hand how the market is changing.
Once you find out more about the future of Beau’s job, then begin your search in ernest. It normally takes a couple about a month to find the home they wind up buying. Sometimes they find it the first time out, sometimes it takes months, but a month of search is a good average time spent.
Posted by on 05/12/08 at 11:04 AMDon’t know. This market isn’t exactly like most housing markets.
Given what we saw over the weekend, I think it may take more than a couple of months to find what we both want.
Posted by on 05/12/08 at 11:12 AMThe Colony is nice - most of Lewisville is nice ... “western Plano” is nice, Frisco is nice ... Traffic WILL suck from any of those areas. We live in Plano and I drive to Irving.
I will say that all those areas have some outrageous taxes, though.
Posted by on 05/12/08 at 01:48 PMTony, Beau wouldn’t need to actually go into Dallas. The job would be in Lewisville. If I were to try to transfer to Dallas, I’d be the one with the nasty commute.
I will email you if we end up moving down there for advice on the area, though.
Posted by on 05/12/08 at 01:53 PMAt least I think I read that the job would be in Lewisville. I’m doubting that now, looking at the map.
