Good Weekend
It was a good weekend - full.
I felt like poo on Friday, so there’s not much to say about that except that it was nice to be at home just hanging with Beau and the kids. Beau took Jesse to the pool that night.
Saturday was a full day of cooking. We were headed to my parents’ for the evening and taking food to contribute to our meal. I made the roasted shrimp and orzo salad sans shrimp since Uncle Bill is allergic. Beau made buns for lamb sliders and brats. The sliders were absolutely delicious and Beau’s buns were perfect. We also had baked beans and lovely fruit to complete the meal. We didn’t do any fireworks since I had to be at church early on Sunday morning, I needed to feed Molly Ann, and Jesse needed to get to bed. Sunday was going to be a long day for all of us.
Oh, the one exciting thing was my major nosebleed. I blew my nose - no big deal. And then a few minutes later I felt like I needed to blow it again so I went into the bathroom and what I found was blood coming out of my nose. I dabbed at it with toilet paper and then I felt the gush in my nose and I managed to lean over the sink just as the blood started to pour out of my nose. It was amazing. Mom got an ice pack, which helped, but it took a long time to stop completely. It was kind of scary, but we figure I must have blown my nose too hard and burst a blood vessel or something.
Since I needed to be at church at 7:45am, I figured to treat the morning like a day I go to the office. I was planning to get up at 5am, but Molly Ann woke up at about 4:40am. So I fed her and then got into the shower. Since I was going to be gone for her next feeding, I pumped to get the milk Beau would need to feed her. He started that feed as I was leaving.
We had a good practice before church started. Beau arrived just when we finished practicing, so I took the kids so that he could get into the parking lot. I took Jesse to his classroom and then Molly Ann went with me to pray with the band before I took her to the nursery. She was a hit with the band guys - they loved her hair, of course. After the worship set in the second service was completed I headed out to rescue the kids from their classes and saw Beau standing at Jesse’s classroom door. He was ready to leave, too, so we all went home together.
From there we all attempted naps before we then headed out to hang with some folks from our original small group. That was a fun time that was cut short when Jesse got super tired and cranky. He was probably hungry, too. He hadn’t eaten because he was way more interested in running around the large lawn at our friend’s house. So we fed him when we got home and he scarfed down pretty much everything we put in front of him. And then he crashed into bed.
Molly Ann must have been out of sorts, because she woke up at 2am for a feeding. And then she woke up at 6am for her breakfast. I wasn’t happy with either wake up - I’m still behind on last week’s sleep. So even though I really got 8 total hours of sleep last night, it does not feel like it. I’m dragging today - but I’m glad to be working at home in my pjs.
I think Beau is planning to take Jesse to the pool again tonight. Other than that I think it’s a normal, wacky day with two small, demanding children.
