Books: Twilight

I never thought I would read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I certainly never thought I would enjoy it if I did read it. And yet both happened.

I succumbed to the hype. I borrowed the audiobook version from my library and from the first words I was hooked. Not only is the writing very well done, but the narration is excellent, too.

So book two is on hold at the library and now I’m excited about the movie as well, although I’ll probably have to wait for the DVD to come out to see it.

4 stars out of 5.

  1. YAY for Twilight!  Just wait until JACOB really enters the picture.  I’m VERY pro-Jacob (and yes, there are camps for pro-Jacobites and anti-Jacobites.  I’m VERY VERY pro-Jacob).

  2. omg.

My wife started on book one, got finished and bought the next three, she proceeded to take a 5 day time out to finish them all. To wit, I took the next four days off and finished them off too.

I’m more of an Edward fan, though Jake is a nice chap.

    Movie comes out in November.

  3. I hadn’t even heard of this series until a few weeks ago when a couple bloggers mentioned it.  The next thing I know I’m at my parents house and my mom is giving me the first book.  I liked it a lot too, although I still think the books would be better if they weren’t in high school.  I didn’t like the second book as much, but it made me even more excited to continue the series.

  4. Jaynee, I knew you’d be excited.

jon, I predict that I’ll be watching the DVD movie when I’m on maternity leave next spring.

I did take a look at the cast for the movie and it looks like they did a good job in casting. I love that Peter Facinelli is cast as Carlisle and I think the chick cast for Bella is a good choice (looks-wise, anyway). There’s a picture at the imdB.com site for the movie of the three who appear at the ballgame - looks exactly as I imagined that scene, so that’s cool.

  5. Yeah, I also like the screen writer used to write for The OC in the first (best) two seasons, and they’ve mine some of the supporting cast from OC and other teeny shows.

Stephenie Meyer’s website is also very good with some unpublished outtakes from the first two books, a pre-pub of one of the chapters for a companion volumne to the first book (same story Edward’s perspective), and other things Twilight.

    If I were a girl, I’d squee.. ;)

  6. I thought I was the only one who hadn’t read “Twilight”...until I was telling a friend of mine that Stephanie Meyer had a new book out and that the Twilight movie was coming out this winter. And she had no idea! Hee. So, I think I’ll need to read the book before the movie comes out…
