Books: Partially Updated List

I finished listening to Spy by Ted Bell on the drive home last night. It wasn’t his best, imho. But I still enjoyed it. I think it is not always wise to read all books by one author so close together. Writing weaknesses are more evident that way. In any case, it was a good way to pass the commutes. Three stars out of five.

Newly begun in the CD player is The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. I picked it up at the library after dropping off some previously read books - I was still in the hold queue on upcoming reads and didn’t have anything new to read (except for Spy, which I had bought several months ago and was holding onto for just this reason). Turns out the held books came available and I do have them in the car, but I thought maybe it was time for a major genre change. And so I’m listening to historical romance for the next 24 driving hours.

I do realize there is a movie coming out of this book. I’d rather read (listen to) the book. So far it is interesting, but it is a long book to listen to at the afore-mentioned 24 hours. I have a feeling this will take longer than my normal 2 weeks of normal driving to finish. At least the narrator has a pleasant voice and lovely British accent.

  1. “The Other Boleyn Girl” is one of my favorite books.  And the movie has already been out and left the theaters…

  2. Hmmm, shows what I know. grin

I’m glad to hear it’s a good book, though.
