Blogathon 2005: LM Campaign Page

Hey ya’ll! Blogathon 2005 is coming soon and I plan to participate. Here’s what you need to know ...

The Date: August 6, beginning at 9am ET

How It Works: Bloggers commit to blog for 24 hours (at least one time every 30 minutes for the full 24 hours) to raise money for their charity of choice.

My Charity: International Justice Mission - International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery, and oppression.

IJM’s Four-Fold Purpose

  • Victim Relief - Relieve the victim of the abuse currently being committed.
  • Perpetrator Accountability - Bring accountability and just consequences under the law to the specific perpetrator(s) of abuse.
  • Structural Prevention - Prevent the abuse from being committed against others who are also at risk by strengthening community factors that are likely to deter potential oppressors, reduce the vulnerability of at-risk populations and empower local authorities to stop such abuses.
  • Victim Aftercare - Provide access to services to help victims transition to their new lives and to encourage long-term success.

  • How to Sponsor Me: Go here! - you will see my blog listed. If you decide to sponsor my campaign for the charity I have chosen, then please click the link or the graphic above to get to my campaign page. You will need to register to some degree (use an alias if you feel more comfortable with that) in order to make a pledge. Once the ‘thon is over, you will receive an email to remind you to pay the charity directly. I get no money, the Blogathon people get no money - all donations are paid directly to the charities. And don’t forget the tax benefit of your generous gift.

I will give you further details and information as I learn more and as the date gets closer. Also, you can check the sidebar to the right where I have general information posted as well. Thanks to all who plan to help out!

All viewpoints are welcome. Please keep your comments profanity free. Do not flame others. HTML links will not work. Please just post any links as is in your comment.

You must answer the captcha question in order for your comment to post. If you don't know the answer, let me know. I may or may not give it to you.

I reserve the right to delete and/or edit objectionable comments. Be nice and have fun!

    1. I was able to register but didn’t see where to make a pledge ~ do I go directly to the IJM link? How will they know it is a pledge for the blogathon?

    2. No, you pledge at the blogathon site. Make sure you are logged in at the blogathon site. When you are on my campaign page you should see an area that says “Pledge your donation” with a box for the amount you want to pledge and a box to check if you want to be anonymous. Then click on the button below that and your pledge will be entered.

Then, when the blogathon is over, you will go to IJM’s giving page (which is linked on the b’thon page or in the sidebar at the right to make your actual donation to them directly.

Thanks for sponsoring me (and don’t forget to sponsor Jaynee, too)!  smooch
