Aw, Sweet Kitty… *purr, purr* …OW!

4:24am was the time on the clock when I was awakened by Mr. Kitty. He had jumped up on the bed and was snuggling in close to my face, purring loudly. Then he gave me a little lick on the cheek, which is the new thing he’s started this week, and before I knew it he had also taken a bite. I flung him off of the bed and rolled over to go back to sleep.

A few minutes later, he hopped up again. This time he was laying on my arm because I was on my side and his face was into my neck. Sweet little lick and then he bit my neck.

So his new thing is to lick and then bite the spot he licked. He repeated it a third time on my hand a little later. Dang, cat! I eventually got out of bed at about 5:15am because he’s very persistent and wouldn’t leave me alone.

Later, he and Annie played chase for a bit and then both retreated to their favorite sleeping spots: she goes under the bed; he curls up on the chair. They were still in those spots when I left for work.

  1. He would have had a hard time biting me the second time, if you get my drift.

    cheers,

  2. Our kitties do that occasionally - it’s a sign of affection when they lick then bite you like that.

  3. Yeah, I know it is. He does the biting thing a lot. But the lick before the bite is new.

Later, while I was reading, drinking coffee, and watching the morning news, he came to snuggle against me. So he was feeling very affectionate today.

You guys will love him, btw. He’s a great cat.

  4. Damon, I was trying to sleep and there was enough time in between “attacks” that he got away with it.

  5. I’m not keen on waking at 4:25 unless necessary.  I’m thinking Mr. Kitty has a closed door in his future.

  7. Oh yeah, we have a closed door for that very reason.  Dog in the bedroom, cat banished.  Someone (read husband) left the door open last weekend and the cat woke me up at 2:45.  “Time for my morning canned food?  Hmm?  Time yet?” Stupid cat.

  8. Wow...we’re spoiled in my house.  Our cats don’t bother us - in fact, they are perturbed when we turn on the light in the morning.  And Cooper never bothers us either (although sometimes I’ll wake up and find him on our bed - he jumps up in the middle of the night when he knows we won’t push him off).

  9. Annie has calmed down a lot in her advanced years. Used to be that the cat being in the room would get her barking with jealousy. Now she pretty much ignores him unless he headbutts her (which is another sign of his affection).
