Jared has an eloquent post about how the Church is missing a crucial point - Jesus. A snippet:

… people look at the Beatitudes and see a list of behaviors to aspire to. That’s all well and good, but Jesus didn’t come to show you how to be a better person. He came because you can’t be. The point of the Beatitudes is that that list is what the kingdom of Jesus looks like. Those are the promises of Jesus to those who will enter his kingdom.
