Snow Frenzy
It’s snowing like crazy today, although the experts are insisting that the accumulation will be 1-2”. We’ll see. It is, however, just enough to close schools (sigh) and hose traffic. I’m hoping the drive home tonight won’t be too terrible since a lot of DC commuters stayed home today or will have left early because of the inauguration stuff.
LATER: Rob Llama has the best line regarding the DC snow attitude.
Heh.Well, it’s snowing here in Your Nation’s Capital for the first time this season and already people in my office are acting as if a glacier had just rolled across the Beltway.
LATERER (3:00pm): ECD and I left together in my car. She needed to get home for her daughter since she was being released from school early. She didn’t want to drive a government car in the snow and I didn’t want to face the crazy drivers in the dark. So I’m at home now.
Surprisingly, the roads were worse closer to work than at home. The roads out here had been treated and were much clearer than inside the Beltway.

Tweaking the Sidebar
I don’t know why the sidebar is showing below the posts. I’m trying to add some of the old sidebar stuff and I’m apparently doing something close to right since it’s there but the sidebar is wonked. My apologies for the mess.
Meanwhile, I think the trackback post is working again? Anyone want to test that?

Trackbacks Working?
Someone try to trackback. I think I may have fixed the problem for now.
UPDATED: Jay suggested that somehow the post title has hosed the trackback function on this post only. This is to redo the post title to see if it resets the permalink that’s now not working.
Someone want to try the trackback for this again? I think it’s good now.
Wait, not working. I think I have to actually change the title wholesale.
OK, permalink works.

Good Thing I Moved
It’s a good thing I moved the blog already - the old site is hosed again. Sheesh.

Book Meme: Authors in Your Library
Via Fire Ant Gazette comes a book meme where you opy the list, then remove from it the names of any authors not in your home library, replacing them with names of authors you have. Boldface the ones you’ve added.
From Eric’s list, I only have one on my shelves and his list is way more high-brow than mine.
Go do your own. Posted by at 12:19 PM1. Michael Crichton
2. Thomas Hardy
3. Tom Clancy
4. Jane Austen
5. CS Lewis
6. JRR Tolkien
7. Kyle Mills
8. Lisa Scottoline
9. Jonathan Kellerman
10. William Shakespeare

Advice Welcome
Thanks for the kind comments so far. I welcome any and all advice from those of you who have been using EE for a while. Also, please email me if you notice glitches - my new email is jen[at]jenspeaks[dot]com although I’ll still be handling stuff from the old domain as well.
Also, I’m wondering how to import the stuff I have in the pMachine pBlocks - I have three pBlocks on the old blog that I’d like to keep intact if possible.
I’m not that worried about importing the old blog posts at this point. I may let that blog die, although there are some specific posts I might just cut and paste over here because they’re meaningful for me. Then again, maybe not since the comments are equally important and those will be lost eventually.
Damn the spammers!
Speaking of the spammers, I’ve set the auto-expire function on my comments for 30 days from posting. I hate to do it, but most of my post conversations have been done within a few days anyway.
