Idol Shouts to the Lord
Ok, so I missed the last 30 minutes of Idol Gives Back on Wednesday night and therefore missed the Idols singing Shout to the Lord. And then I missed the controversy about them switching the name of Jesus to shepherd in the song.
But I did see them sing it last night, apparently an encore of sorts, and they did sing the name of Jesus. And I get the controversy a bit, but I also understand the reasoning for the slight change to make it seemingly more inclusive. But word change or not, there’s no getting around that they were singing an overt song of praise to God on national TV when millions of people were watching. It’s quite amazing when you think about it. Watching the Idols sing it made me wonder which of them may be Christians because of their demeanor when singing it - a few of them were clearly very comfortable and, dare I say it, worshipful as they sang.
I wonder what Darlene Zschech thinks about it. The Idols were good, but nothing beats the original artist.
Yeah, I heard them sing Jesus last night as well. And to be honest, I didn’t hear “shepherd” on Wednesday because I was too busy sitting in shock that the Idols were singing THAT SONG. I thought that was pretty cool (although the broadcast ruined the awesome finale by throwing the bookend clip of Ben Stiller cursing out Ryan Seacrest after the credits rolled). But it’s Fox Network - why should I expect anything different?

His fellow missionaries told him HOLLYWOOD and that he’d be crazy to blow that opportunity to reach MORE people. I forget where I read that, but I thought that was cool. Kristy Lee certainly had a worshipful expression on her face. And Archuleta is a Mormon, so I’m sure he was into it as well.

When I watched on Thursday I wondered if that was the producers decision and their subliminal message for who they think should be the final two?
