I Have Read None

I’m proud to say that I have not read a single one of the 50 Best Cult Books.

  1. I’ve read 10 of them, and I’m proud of that!

And if you really have never read To Kill a Mockingbird, you are missing out on one of the most incredible works of modern American literature. I hope you’ve at least seen the movie.

  2. Ditto on To Kill A Mockingbird And also...you haven’t read Hitchiker’s Guide? Seriously? You should...I think you’d enjoy it.

  3. I’ve read a good handful of them and concur with Pisco and Beth on To Kill a Mockingbird...a must read!  But I find it hilarious that Baby and Child Care, by Dr. Spock is on the list.  I know my own mother raised me on those principles, which goes a long way in explaining any deficiencies I’ve grown up with.  At least that’s what I’ll tell the therapist when the time comes. wink

  4. I have seen To Kill a Mockingbird. I am curious about Hitchhiker’s Guide, but just haven’t worked up enough interest to read it yet.

I chuckled at the Dr. Spock book making the list, too. Poor kids.

  5. Ahem...Baby and Child Care was read by me and millions of other young mothers who had no clue how to take care of a baby. The practical stuff was very helpful and there really wasn’t anything else out there at the time. I think Spock revised it later in the late 60’s or 70’s when he became a radical.  I’ll admit there were four others on the list that I read, also in the 60’s ~ all B.C.

  6. I’ve read at least 8 of those books and half of one and a few pages of another. Couldn’t get through either of them. At least one or two of them I read for an English class, high-school even, I think.

Catcher in the Rye is one of my all-time favorite books. I’m proud to have read all of the ones I did on that list.

I think you saw the word CULT and you thought the books were anti-God or something. You need to read a few of those books before you die. If you want recommendations, just ask.

  7. lol

I don’t necessarily like reading the same things that everyone else reads. I wish I had never read The DaVinci Code.

  8. Maybe you should stop reading The Bible then. Seems to be quite a number of readers of that book.

  10. That wasn’t me.  I didn’t say that - Denis mst have posted from my login.

As for me (the REAL me), I have read 10 of them as well, and have considered reading another 8-9 but never got around to it.  I’m actually very surprised The Illuminatus Trilogy isn’t on the list.  THAT is one weird book.
