2007 Year in Review
I thought the questions were interesting when I saw them at Mental Maundering (Chewie’s answers were interesting as well, of course). Here’s my take:
1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before? I had a baby.
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t make annual resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Well, there’s no one closer to me that myself, right?
4. Did anyone close to you die? Fortunately, no.
5. What countries did you visit? We have a new baby. We barely made it out of the state, much less out of the country.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? 2007 was pretty good, generally. I would like for Beau to have the job that he wants, though.
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? January 16 - Jesse’s birthday. And January 19th - the day I got out of the hospital after being in for a month.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Besides becoming a mother, starting a business.
9. What was your biggest failure? I know there are lots of failures. Does any one stick in my mind? Not really. I could do better at being the kind of wife Beau needs/wants. I could do better with spending time with God in His Word and prayer.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Only if you consider a c-section an injury. It certainly hurt like a mother, so to speak.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Any one of countless baby things that I love.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Beau, for being so supportive when I was laid up in the hospital (actually, for being a complete prince during the whole pregnancy) and in the days after my surgery. I really have the most wonderful husband.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? I can’t think of any.
14. Where did most of your money go? His name is Jesse, although technically none of the money went to him directly.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? I think I was more excited about getting out of the hospital than I was about having the baby.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007? Hmmm, tough one. I have no idea.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? I think happier, since this time last year I was laid up in the hospital and miserable with pregnancy
older and wiser? Come on, really?
thinner or fatter? I had a baby - you do the math!
richer or poorer? Again, I had a baby and I moved to a place with higher rent and further from my job.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Um, TMI - “spent more time with Beau,” if you know what I mean.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Working away from home.
20. How will you be spending Christmas? We went to my parents’ home.
21. Question #21 must have fallen into a crevasse on Mt. Everest.
22. Did you fall in love in 2007? Already in love with a wonderful man. Fell into maternal love with Jesse.
23. How many one-night stands? Of course, none. What kind of question is this?
24. What was your favorite TV program? Always, CSI. American Idol, LOST, 24. New to me is Battlestar Galatica, which I watched while on materinity leave.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? I don’t hate anyone.
26. What was the best book you read? Well, looking at the list in the previous post, it looks like I rated HP and the Deathly Hallows with the highest rating.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I made no musical discoveries this year.
28. What did you want and get? Too many things to name.
29. What did you want and not get? Too many things to name.
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Nothing pops into my head. I liked Amazing Grace a lot as a meaningful movie.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 40. Had dinner with my folks and uncle and they they surprised me with a small surprise party.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? If Beau was the one with the full time job so that I could be at home with Jesse full time.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? Wear what fits after having a baby and without spending any money.
34. What kept you sane? Sleep.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? None.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? Gah. I’m fed up with the whole process already - this election started way, way too early!
37. Who did you miss? My granddad.
38. Who was the best new person you met? Some new folks at church who are in our new small group.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007: God’s grace is sufficient for every circumstance.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: I’ve got nothing.
