SOTD: Disappear

I’ve been meaning to post this for a couple of weeks now. I’ve been listening to Bebo Norman’s Try CD and I don’t know why I never really noticed the lyrics to Disappear before, but they’re meaningful for me lately.

Disappear
by Bebo Norman

On a day like this
I want to crawl beneath a rock
A million miles from the world
The commotion that never seems to stop

And on a day like this
I want to run from the routine
Run away from the daily grind
That can suck the life right out of me

I only know of one place I can run to…

I want to hide in You
The way, the life, the truth
So I can disappear
And love is all there is to see
Coming out of me
And you become clear
As I disappear

I don’t want to care about earthly things
Be caught up in all the lies
That trick my eyes
They say it’s all about me

I’m so tired of it being about me

I want to hide in You
The way, the life, the truth
So I can disappear
And love is all there is to see
Coming out of me
And you become clear
As I disappear

I would rather be cast away
Separated from the human race
If I don’t bring you glory
If I don’t bring you glory
If I don’t bring you glory

The whole CD is great. I just ordered his newest CD and I’m looking forward to getting that soon.

[UPDATE]: I feel that I should clarify that it’s the sentiment of the chorus and the latter half that’s sticking with me more than the first two verses. I feel that for a while it’s been all about me and I know that it’s not all about me. I want to be a reflection of Him; to bring Him glory. I want to be a better reflection of His love. I want to disappear so that He’s more clear.

TV: Yes, I’m Watching My Usual Shows

24: I don’t know why I’m still watching this season. It gets more ridiculous each week. You know it’s bad when I cheered a bit that the previews for next week show Jack getting shot. I’m still kind of hoping that Brian Doyle becomes the new main dude next season. It’s time for Jack to get benched.

TAR-AS: I have to admit that there have been a few episodes that I did not actively watch. For instance, I missed a large bit of the Rahmber Philimination episode, so I don’t really know what it was that caused their poor performance. I’m sad they’re gone, though. Of the teams that are left, I’m mostly ambivalent. While I like Uchenna and Joyce, I really don’t think they should be racing again since they’ve already won a Race. It’s also why I really don’t want them to win again. Can’t stand Mirna-Schmirna. Danielle annoys me as much as she annoys Erik. Who else is still around? I can’t remember right now.

Dancing with the Stars: I’m impressed with Heather Mills. I think the competition will come down to Laila Ali, Joey Fatone, and Ian Ziering. John Ratzenberger also impresses me. The rest? Meh.

LOST: Good second half of the season.

Survivor: I’m watching, but I’m not really enjoying these people.

Tartan Day 2007

Tartan Day this year is April 6th. There is absolutely no telling if I’ll be able to post all things Scottish that day, but I’ll at the very least link to previous Tartan Day posts.

Pet Food

I feel like a terrible pet owner. Not only have the dog and cat been relegated to dog and cat status since the arrival of Jesse, I’ve barely paid attention to the pet food recall. I mean, I’ve made note of the terrible stories of renal failure and that there are probably way more deaths than have been reported. But we feed our pets dry food. At least that’s what I was thinking until the cat puked the other day and it occurred to me that we do feed the cat canned food. And then I heard that there were new recalls. So I did a bit of checking on the stuff we buy and so far I think we’re OK.

We use Beneful dry for dogs, which according to the Purina website is not affected by the recall.

We use 9 Lives canned for the cat, which is also not on any of the recall lists.

We do give the cat treats, but we dump them into a canister so I have no clue what brand they are. I did just replenish that canister, so I’m tempted to throw them out just in case, but the cat seems fine.

Movie: Flyboys

Beau and I managed to watch Flyboys last night pretty much uninterrupted. I mean we stopped the DVD a couple of times but it was not because of Jesse. I think that’s a first for movie watching since his arrival.

The adventures of the Lafayette Escadrille, young Americans who volunteered for the French military before the U.S. entered World War I, and became the country’s first fighter pilots.

We both liked it a lot. Beau’s only quibble was when the French commander hugged Rawlings instead of giving him the more traditional kisses on the cheeks.

I wondered if they really did have a lion as a mascot. Turns out they did. In fact, they had two. Read a little bit more about the Lafayette Escadrille here.

3.5 stars out of 5.

Busy Weekend

We were on the go for most of yesterday. Beau went to the gun show in the morning while I hung out with Jesse. Then we all met up with Beth and Tim for a great lunch at Guapos followed by ice cream at Maggie Moo’s (Beth and I ate the ice cream, the guys had sopapillas at Guapos) in Shirlington. I had the Better Batter Cake Carnival, which was delicious. After we parted ways with the Sleepys, Beau and I spent a little time in the Books-A-Million where we bought a few children’s books to increase Jesse’s library and then headed home.

We spent about an hour at home and then headed to church after which we went out for dessert with my parents.

Today has been a lazy day at home, although not really since Beau has been working on a test for his classes and I went to Wegmans for groceries. The plan is to watch a movie tonight, but we’ll see if that happens.
