I have never looked this cool in a pair of sunglasses.

Selling at Etsy.com
You may notice that I have added an Etsy.com ad to my sidebar - my shop can be found here. Etsy is a great place for folks to sell the things they make. Jaynee has a shop there for her art, too.
Anyway, I’m going to sell jewelry online this way to start. I hope that people will like and buy my stuff. The sidebar will feature a couple items at a time - they will change as I add to the inventory. My pricing is the question mark - I’m using the prices my friend Joanie set in her shop. She sold a lot of my stuff, so I’m going to see if I get any sales at these price points. If I don’t, then I’ll probably drop my prices at some point. Also, I’m working on my photography - I stink with a camera.
There’s a place for feedback - I welcome any either here or at my shop.
I’d say more but I’m typing one handed while holding a sleeping Jesse.
[UPDATED (12:15 pm)]: Now that Jesse is sleeping, I’ve updated the post. Thanks for your patience!

A Quiz Before I Go
It’s been a busy, busy day. I’m whipped.
And so, before I go home, a quiz for your enjoyment.

My eyes are green, so make of that what you will.

Annie is Getting Old
I haven’t posted about the pets recently. They are no longer my kids, but have been relegated the backseat status of family pets now that we have a real kid. It’s sad for them.
I just got a reminder phone call about Annie’s vet appointment for tomorrow. She needs her bordatella updated since she’s going into the kennel during our long weekend in South Carolina in a couple of weeks. It is not her regular check up, which should be due in the next couple of months, but I do wonder if the vet will recommend teeth cleaning as they always do. My answer is always no - not because she doesn’t need her teeth cleaned, but because she’s 18 years old and I don’t want to put her through the stress at her age.
Yes, she is an incredibly healthy 18 year old dog, but she’s starting to really show her age. She’s completely deaf at this point. And we think she’s losing her sight as well - she definitely does not have the depth perception that she used to. Case in point from a few weeks ago was when she was outside for her final “go” of the night. Beau went out to take trash the can and left the door open. Annie came up to the doorway and stopped, waiting for one of us to open the already opened door. Because she can’t hear, she couldn’t hear me call her - or that I was laughing hysterically when Beau tapped her on the behind to encourage her to go through the door and she went into full on brake mode. It took several tries for him to convince her that the door was open and even when she decided to brave it, she ran through as if she was being chased and looked behind to make sure she was safe. Poor girl.
She also misses the last couple of steps on her way down the stairs. This is the more worrying thing; I dread finding her in a pile at the bottom of the stairs with a terrible back injury. So far she gets right up and prances away like she never fell down 2-3 steps and landed on her face.
Other than those minor things, she’s still the feisty, if a bit slower and mellower, Annie. She’s a great dog.
I was nursing Jesse before bedtime the other night and looked up to see Annie and Mr. Kitty both laying on Annie’s pallet in the living room. They weren’t snuggled, but reluctantly sharing the space with their heads turned away from each other. I couldn’t get to the camera before one of them moved, sadly. It was a cute picture.
Jesse has taken notice of the animals when they walk by him when he’s in his bouncy seat. They completely ignore him.
And that’s the pet update for today.

The Office: Still Rulz
I know I say this after every new episode, but The Office is the funniest show on TV.
There were three great lines that I wanted to mention, but I can only remember the last one I heard - “Beer me the CD.” This is how fried my brain is lately.
Those of you who watch it, will you post your favorite quotable from last night in the comments, please?

Reality Blurred
I’m taking a break and catching up with my Reality Blurred reading.
First, in the TAR-AS recap, the line that made me nearly snarf:
Mirna told us, “People think that because Charla’s short, they think I’m supposed to treat her in a special way.” Actually, no one thinks that, but we do think people should treat you however one treats a harpy.
When I heard her say that during Sunday’s show, I didn’t think that exactly but what I did think was a similar sentiment.
On last night’s AI6 charity drive/elimination show I must say that I almost completely agree with this assessment. I found it cruel that they led Jordin to believe that she was to be eliminated when they had no intention of eliminating anyone. I realize that they wanted people to continue to vote, but there was no reason to let the 17 year old contestant think that she was going home. That it capped off a ho-hum celeb-fest, imho, made it worse for me. Bad form there, AI, bad form.
That said, I bought one of these to support the cause in my own small way.

Gonna Be One of Those Days
I’ve been trying to access the network for about 30 minutes now with no success. At least it’s completely on Them, so I’m not going to stress about it and just keep trying.
*sigh*
In other news, my voice mail contained a message from a guy asking about what he needs to do to be able to get married this week. Seriously, I cannot tell you how many of these kinds of calls we get.
*sigh*
[9:40am]: Still not logged into the network. I wonder if I’ll ever get in today.
[11:40 am]: Still not in. I called our help desk and there’s no explanation for why I cannot get access. My cable is working fine. The laptop pings the server. I just cannot get logged in.
I have showered and am leaving for the office. I don’t know what I’d do if this was a day that Beau was not home to take care of Jesse. I guess I’d have to haul him to the office with me. That’ll make the bosses happy, no?
I’m pretty pissed off right about now.

Recipe: Crock Pot Peanut Chicken (Thai)
This recipe in its original form is delicious. This time I used the Spicy Peanut Bake exclusively. I must confess that I did make a change, as I usually do. We didn’t have yams/sweet potatoes so I used russets instead and they tasted very good. And I plan to tweak it a bit more the next time I do it because there was a lot of tasty sauce in the bottom of the pot that went to waste. I plan to substitute jasmine rice for the potatoes. And I plan to marinate the chicken in the first three ingredients overnight before putting everything in the pot for cooking.

A Note About Federal Courthouses
We don’t perform marriages. We don’t supply marriage licenses. We have nothing to do with weddings, births, divorces, or deaths. Except for the occasional murder trial, but that’s a whole different kettle of fish.
Also, when you call a federal agency and the person who works for said federal agency tells you that you’ve got the wrong agency and actually refers you to a specific other agency, please do not argue with that person and insist that you do have the right agency. The federal employee knows better than you do with whom you should speak about your issue.
Thank you.

Ham as a Tool of Violence?
Since when is a ham sandwich a weapon? Since common sense was lost.
LEWISTON, Maine --Police are investigating as a possible hate crime an incident in which a ham steak was placed in a bag on a lunch table where a group of Somali students were sitting. Such an incident would be offensive to Somalis, who are Muslims and consider pork unclean.
[...]
Superintendent Leon Levesque said the incident is being treated seriously and police are investigating. The center for the Prevention of Hate Violence is working with the school to devise a response plan.
This is laughable.
Sure, it’s a prank that’s insensitive, but a hate crime? Come on. A violent act? No way.
As Senator McCain said last week, “Lighten up!”

Hollowood: Crazy Baldwin’s Phone Rant
Yes, Alec was terrible to say those things to his daughter via voice mail.
However, what kind of mother would let those things be released in the public square for all to hear? Bad form, Kim.

TAR-AS: The Cha-Chas Money Decision
If you haven’t seen last night’s episode yet move along because this post is highly spoilerish...You have been warned.
Let it be known that I am hoping the Cha-Chas win the money, however they miscalculated their bargain with the BQs a bit. The BQs miscalculated a tad bit as well.
What I would have done:
1. If I were the Chas I would have made the same offer to the BQs that they made - to not Yield the BQs for a bit of helpful cash. But I would have left it at that. They made the mistake of offering to Yield the team of the BQs’ choosing, which took their offer into the questionable dirty play arena.
2. If I were the BQs, I would have been happy enough to not be Yielded. With the Chas offer to Yield another team for cash, I would have merely asked them not to Yield my team for the money. Again, no complaints about dirty play.
The way it went down is going to lead to some negativity that needn’t happen in the next episode. Eric/Danielle are understandably angry. I’m interested to see how things shake out next week.
