New to the Blogroll
It was only a matter of time before a longtime reader and commenter became a blogger.
Go visit Gwynne at her new digs - The Shallow End.
There’s a good story about how Beau saved her.

The Blog-Free Weekend
Sorry for not posting the last few days. I didn’t feel like sitting at the computer - I had other things going on, about which I shall post.
I saw all your comments, but I can’t guarantee that I’ll respond to them anytime soon. I’m just not that interested blogging lately.
So, upcoming here if I get any inspiration and in no particular order:
1. The memorial service for the lady from my church who died last week.
2. Food TV
3. George Mason basketball
4. Church stuff
5. Baby stuff
6. A dust up at PHC
7. Cleaning my house
I think that’s it.

The Last Manicure
Although there is no data to say whether or not the process for acrylic nails is safe or dangerous for pregnancy, I had decided to have the nails removed soon anyway for a few reasons:
1. I won’t be able to maintain them after the baby arrives.
2. No need to inhale the dust regardless.
3. The months leading up to birth will be plenty of time for my nails to grow out to their natural strength after having the fake overlays removed.
So I was all set to give Tim the Nail Guy the bad news that today’s fill was going to be my last. But he beat me to the bad news punch by informing me that today is his last day because he’s moving back to California next week.
How’s that for Providence? We had a good chuckle over the timing when I explained about baby and nails.
My next visit in a couple of weeks will be to have the overlays removed.

Adamant Search Strings
Checking my referral stats I found two search referrals that cracked me up.
First came this one. Then I found this one.
All right, already.
For movie information, my preferred source is IMdB.com - the internet movie database. You can find pretty much everything movie-related there. ‘Kay?
Just to help you out here, the answer is So I Married An Axe Murderer.

TAR9: Hippie Channels Buddy-the-Elf Edition
Here it is - the long awaited recap of this week’s episode of The Amazing Race. Rather than use the placeholder from yesterday, where several of you have been having fun in the comments, I decided to create a new post.
I left work early yesterday because I was completely out of it - got home and took a nap - woke up a new woman, sort of. I had enough time to watch TAR before I needed to go to choir practice at church. I’m not sure how many details I’ll remember to mention, so feel free to add your assessment in the comments.
Clicky linky for the rest…

TAR9: [Title TBD] Edition
This is the placeholder for my recap of last night’s episode, which I have not watched yet. I don’t know when I’ll be able to watch it since I have choir practice at church tonight. So maybe tomorrow night since it’s back to March Madness.
Please do not leave episode spoilers in the comments or I will have to hunt you down and hurt you. And you don’t want to mess with the pregnant lady.

Hometown Sweet 16 Team
I have been remiss to mention that George Mason University is the local college. We live literally down the street from the campus. I secretly hope that a job will open up there for Beau so that we don’t have to move and he can walk to work on nice days (because he likes to walk, not because I would be making him walk to work). Not really, because he still hopes to get the job at Patrick Henry College.
However, I bring it up because my sister called to tell me she had managed to score two tickets to Friday’s GMU game at MCI Center in DC, did I want to go with her? I pondered it for about 5 seconds before I refused on the grounds that my morning all day sickness, which includes sensitivity to a lot of activity and noise in addition to smell aversions and the necessity to eat small snacks constantly, made going to a March Madness game sheer stupidity on my part.
ME: Why don’t you call Dad?
She did and he’s all over it. I’m only a little jealous - I’m happy they’ll get the sports bonding time. Usually I’m the son Dad never had. And I know that I would have been completely miserable starting with the Metro ride into DC.
Unrelated: I managed to turn our meeting at HQ for tomorrow into a conference call next week so that I wouldn’t have to ride the Metro. Yes!

Stupid Food Things
I got a hankering for Baja Fresh at about 11am today. So at noon I called in an order for lunch and then went out to pick it up. All excited, I cleared space on my desk and started to eat, anticipating the flavors I had been salivating for for almost 2 hours.
None of it tastes right. Not that it wasn’t prepared properly. It’s beautiful. But my pregnant taste buds do not interpret the combination of flavors as my brain remembers them.
So sad.
Didn’t stop me from eating half of it anyway. I’m saving the other half for a snack in an hour or so.

“Weak Tot Action”
So I was lazing through NCAA basketball on Sunday afternoon when a commercial for Sonic came on. Two guys in a car, waxing philosphic about basketball when all of a sudden the passenger whacks the tater tot out of the driver’s hand. “REJECTED!” he yells and then goes on about how the driver had “weak tot action” and so forth. The expression on the driver’s face was hysterical - clearly he was doing all he could not to bust up laughing. Beau and I were laughing hard (OK, I was laughing hard; Beau was laughing hard at me laughing hard). We rewound it to watch it again - hilarity.
Anyone else see that?

24: How Did Desmond Leave the Island, Brother? Edition
Thankfully, no one died this week on 24. I don’t know if I could have handled another death after last week’s senseless death of Tony.
It was all I could do to stay up for the episode. My self-defense against the morning sickness is to eat all freakin’ day long. By 9pm I am so done with food and just cannot eat another bite. But somehow I made it through to 10pm.
The rest is behind the link…
LATER: Dave Barry’s post on last night’s ep has 516 comments.
EVEN LATER: Right Wing Nut House has a great recap of last night’s episode including analysis of the plot. Excellent stuff.

I have a lot to say about this news item. However, I must wait until I’m home before opining.

Prayer Request
My grandfather is doing great - he’s been at home for about a week now.
This prayer request is for a church family - a woman in our small group died unexpectedly yesterday. She is a divorced mother of three; twin girls in college in New England and a high school aged son. He found her yesterday and was unable to revive her.
I only just met her last week at my first time with our small group, but she was a sweet, soft-spoken lady who clearly loved the Lord. I am sure her children are devastated. Also, Mom told me that one of her daughters was one of our childcare providers at the wedding.
Please pray for her kids, who are way too young to have to deal with the loss of a parent like this. I have no idea what kind of relationship they have with their father, if at all. I’m thinking it’s minimal from the little she said about it at small group.

Light Posting
New post up at the p-blog. While I’m able to manage the morning all day sickness, I’m super tired today. This despite about 9 hours of sleep last night.
Don’t feel like working, but I must. And so posting will be light today. Probably. I’ll try to respond to the comments from the weekend at some point.
