Tea Selections So Far

For those who have pledged and have told me which tea varieties they want, we have:

1. Blueberry Bang (Rooibos) - 3 (Jaynee, I assume this is what you want?)
2. TFAR’s House Blend (black) - 1
3. White Chocolate Mousse (black) - 1
4. White Swiss Truffle (Rooibos) - 1

My all time favorite is the Cream Earl Grey, but I also really like the Windsor Castle, which is a tea that was developed in honor of the reopening of Windsor Castle after the 1996(?) fire.

So don’t forget to let me know what you want and where to send it.

Question #4 Answered

The fourth in a series of questions posed by readers. This from Gwynne.

...your favorite classes were in college?

My favorite classes in college were the hands on classes in my major - film, TV, and radio. We had to make films, TV shows, and learn how to work at the college radio station. I actually did work at the station for my last two years as work study and as part of my major. Nice two-fer there.

What made you decide to go into communication studies?

I’m embarrassed to say that I wanted to be my generation’s Connie Chung - a TV news anchor. Heh. I was more interested in radio, really, so that was my focus. Too bad I stunk at it, although I did enjoy it.

And how does radio broadcasting differ from blogging?

I didn’t talk much when I was on the radio - that’s the part I stink at. I’m great in writing much more than on the air. I prefer to write.

Question #3 Answered

The third in a series of questions posed by readers. This from Princess Jami.

How did you first learn about the International Justice Mission?

I first heard about IJM when I was still on staff with Young Life. I was working in the International Division of YL and one of our regional directors had just made the switch from YL to IJM. That was about four years ago. Then when the tsunami hit south Asia last winter, my church (which supports IJM) took up an offering for aid and decided to give it to IJM to help them care for and protect the orphaned children from predators who would have taken them for slavery or prostitution.

You can learn much more about IJM’s work by checking out their webpage. And then come back here to click over to make a pledge to help them out financially. Thanks for the question, Jami!

Wondering?

There hasn’t been any wedding blogging in a bit. Wondering why? Because there’s nothing new to share.

I’m still behind on the florist thing - I need to make the phone calls. I thought about it yesterday, but decided not to pester any florists on a Friday knowing that it’s wedding season and they they probably had work to do to get ready for any weddings today.

Beau and I have talked about going shopping for his wedding ring next weekend when he’s here again. We have our family engagement party on Saturday night, so we could do that during the day. Since I’ll be wearing my grandmother’s wedding ring, which came from Tiffany & Co., I thought it would be nice to see about getting his ring from Tiffany as well. Makes me thankful that he’s happy with a plain gold band.

Anyway, wedding blogging will resume in earnest when we hit the next flurry of activities in the planning.

Question #2 Answered

The second in a series of questions posed by readers. This from Gwynne.

I’d like to hear more about the various places you have lived and which you liked best and why.

Gee, there are so many. Please allow me to refer you to my 100 Things list; item 15 to be specific. I’m lazy that way and I believe they’re all listed there (along with 99 other things about moi).

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I know it’s weird, but I like it here in northern Virginia. I gripe about the two things that are the worst about the area - traffic and housing costs. OK, there’s the heat and humidity of summer, but that only lasts for three months and I live and work in blessed air conditioning so I can deal. What I like is my job, which is cool even though it’s federal employment, which I swore I would never do. I also like that I’m near my family and I love my new church. And while I don’t go down there often enough, I like being near DC because there is plenty to do in the city.

Also, and this may seem odd, I like my hometown sports teams and that I can watch them whenever I want because they’re always on. When I lived in New Hampshire it was tough to get Redskins games or Orioles games because Boston was the hometown. It’s how I came to be a Red Sox fan.

Which destinations are on the top of your travel wish list?

Alaska is tip top. Actually, I would like to visit more of the good ole USA before I head overseas. We have a very large, diverse country and there are plenty of places to explore here at home. Which leads to…

And not that I expect you to divulge specifics, but generally, where will you and Beau go on your honeymoon?

Arizona - no secret there. It’s a large state and there are a lot of options for site seeing. We plan to do quite a few of them.

It would also be fun to know from whence all of your blurking blog friends come (e.g. are all 7 continents represented?  How about all 50 states?).

Well, I can name a few places: Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tenessee, New Jersey, Montana, Idaho, California, Massachusetts, Missouri, Colorado to name a few. Any from others that I did not name can feel free to chime in in the comments.

Blogathon Eating & Which is Better?

From here on out I will be grazing. Although I think my Dad is planning to grill burgers for dinner, so maybe this won’t work. But so far I haven’t eaten a large meal and I’m thinking that I’ll need snacks throughout the night to keep me awake. And coffee, although I’ll probably stick with Vanilla Diet Coke™ for the most part.

So here’s the Which is Better?

Vanilla Diet Coke

or

Lime Diet Coke

Technical Question for You

We have a conundrum here at the house. My computer clock and what I see on the blog match - currently 1:51pm ET. My father’s and mother’s blog times are showing one hour behind while their computer clocks are correct.

What time do you see on this post? Please indicate your time zone. If you’re on the east coast you should see 1:51pm.
