Busy Calendar Approaches
I have a busy few months ahead.
August 23-27 - travelling to Denver for a work conference.
August 28 - Restoring Honor Rally in DC with Beau’s Bro and SIL.
September 4 - Beau’s cousin is getting married in Maryland.
September 11 or 12 - We may do the 9/12 March on DC like we did last year. Maybe. It’s looking less likely. And there are two events that weekend, which makes it more confusing.
September 17-18 - Uncle Sam’s Niece Open House for Bead on a Wire in Manassas, VA.
September 20-24 - travelling to Glynco, GA for work training.
October - may have training in DC.
November 12-13 - Tea For All Reasons Open House for Bead on a Wire in Winchester, VA. This is a good weekend since I’ll have 11/11 off for Veteran’s Day. It means I can use that day to get everything out to Winchester and set up my displays.
November - may have training in San Diego if we don’t do it in October in DC.
December - may have training in Las Vegas if we don’t do it in October or November.
Wow.

Stuff
Here’s a bunch of randomness that’s been rattling around for a bit. I don’t think any of the items are enough for posts of their own, but who knows once I type it all out.
1. I was in a conversation recently in which politics and our President’s policies came up. Concensus was that things are tubing with this administration and it was going to be a long 4 years. And then one of them said, “You know, he isn’t even a citizen.” *sigh* I immediately rebuked the person, saying that the Birthers had no real proof and that he was, in fact a US citizen born in Hawaii. She just stared at me as if I had 2 heads. It left me with a very weird feeling - I think she really believes it. Now, I don’t like our President, but I won’t allow lies to be told about him.
2. I can’t believe we’re just 5 episodes away from the end of LOST. I’m very sad about this. I think this season has been a very good one and I’m excited to see how they manage to wrap things up. I have no pet theory - I’m open to see where they go.
3. About TV - I watch very little of it these days. LOST is the only show I watch “live.” I do manage to keep up with Survivor, but that gets watched the morning after it airs because Thursday nights Beau has small group so I watch a movie with Jesse before he goes to bed. That said, I am recording The Good Wife, House, V, and Human Target. At some point I’ll watch them.
4. Our closet is fixed. My Dad is a prince - he came to help Beau with the installation of the shelves and rod. They managed to get it done before lunch. I think it would have taken Beau and me all day to do it with a lot of arguing, too. Thanks, Dad! Also scratched off of the honey-do list: installation of the mirror in Molly’s room and hang two shelves in my bathroom and our bedroom. Molly’s room is now complete, although I still need to paint the tall chest white. I still need art and a tension rod to complete my bathroom. I need to paint the toy box, too. But we’ve made progress.

Peggy Has A Column, but Robbo Has a Warning
Peggy Noonan has a column out today about the health reform bill about to be passed (most likely) by the House this weekend. You can read it here.
Robert mentions it in this post. He quotes the following:
And so it ends, with a health-care vote expected this weekend. I wonder at what point the administration will realize it wasn’t worth it—worth the discord, worth the diminution in popularity and prestige, worth the deepening of the great divide. What has been lost is so vivid, what has been gained so amorphous, blurry and likely illusory. Memo to future presidents: Never stake your entire survival on the painful passing of a bad bill. Never take the country down the road to Demon Pass.
Eloquent and right. Right? Maybe not…
Money quote:
Uh, Peggy? One might also say to certain otherwise responsible members of the press, “Never beer-goggle coyote-ugly presidential candidates.” I vividly recall you with a funnel in your mouth, dizzily guzzling the hopenchange jagermeister back in the fall of ‘08, while some of us more temperate souls saw something like this coming even then. I am still waiting for the column in which you say, “What in God’s name was I thinking?” and promise to gnaw off your own arms in order not to do it again.
Yep.

A Thrill Down My Leg
Very, very interesting.
And I’m a bit more interested in 2012 than I have been to date.

Too Much Talking, Not Enough Listening
So Our Esteemed Leader did an interview with ABC News in which he explained that his low approval ratings are because he didn’t spend enough time communicating the core values of the American people to the American people.
In his first full year in office, OEL gave over 900 speeches and had almost 60 press conferences. Seems like he did a little too much talking and not nearly enough listening.
He needs to take some Q-Tips to his tin ears, methinks.
I don’t need OEL and his team to tell me what my core values are, thanks.
The American people have been trying to remind you, OEL! You’re ignoring us. That is your problem.
Oh, and stop blaming the previous administration for all of your problems. You’ve been in the job long enough that it doesn’t hold up any longer and it’s just rude.

Never Thought I’d Say This
I’d take Bill Clinton back as President.
This is not a joke. I’m not kidding.
This guy is way worse.

Someone in the Media Gets It
But not in the American media.
The pictures are awesome!
[UPDATE]: I should clarify - the Obama = Hitler signs I don’t agree with. I didn’t like them when Bush was President, I don’t like them now. However, the one picture of Obama’s Teleprompter is my favorite - we saw them all over the place and I regret not taking my own pictures of them.

Quote of the Day
The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.—Sam Adams
