Nothing to Say - A Bit of Random

After a very stressful and exhausting week last week, I have nothing much to say this week. Things are quiet. The follow-up conference call that we were supposed to have tomorrow is postponed indefinitely. This frustrates me and I told my boss that I would continue to push to get this resolved, because it will directly impact my back up while I’m on maternity leave. He told me that a third proposal is in the works - initiated from Useless One and an admin with whom she has bonded (Lord, save us from another Useless One - two are enough). Until we get that proposal, any changes are on hold. *sigh* In t he meantime, the medical is continuing to stack up back in UO’s box again - we figure another month’s worth of claims. It’s maddening.

There’s a good discussion about this season of 24 over at Thinklings.

I got to a gestational diabetes class tomorrow afternoon at the hospital. Then I’m supposed to have a one-on-one follow-up appointment with a counselor. I’m looking forward to it if only to get the information I need to manage my diet. We’re trying on our own, but I can’t help but wonder how we’re really doing.

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am that Tatiana won’t be on AI anymore. I can’t stand her drama. What a nut job.

I’m debating posting about the weird near panic attack I had on my return flight from Phoenix. I’ve only shared the story with Beau so far. It was disturbing enough that it caused an adrenalin rush, racing heart, and sweating when I merely thought about it for about two weeks post-trip. I’m OK about it now, but it’s still disturbing. All I will say now is that it is related to my heights fear/phobia.

I’m starving. I missed my morning snack and now it’s too close to lunch to eat it. Maybe I’ll eat lunch early.

Here Comes Goodbye

Remember Chris Sligh from American Idol season 6? He’s having a pretty good music career post-AI about which you can read at his blog.

I read at his blog last week that Rascal Flatts was releasing their new single, Here Comes Goodbye, from their new album that comes out in April. The YouTube below is that new song and it was co-written by Sligh.

I like it a lot. And you can read the background on the song here.

Link Love Friday

I’m still super busy at work, but I am catching up on the blog reading I missed this week and have to share some posts that stood out.

1. From Granny, this short snippet about the Inauguration just adds to my sadness. The rudeness of the Left is appalling.

2. From Robbo, several posts regarding what he calls Brit Beefcake. Start here, then move on to here, then follow up with this.

If You Haven’t Seen Star Wars, This is For You!

I’ve seen this all over the place. Of course, I’m more than a day late and a dollar short. However, I’m not as late and short as the chick who explains the Star Wars trilogy in this clip. Sadly hilarious.

Cake Wrecks

This is one of the funniest Cake Wrecks posts in a long time.

Not that it’s not funny on a regular basis, but this particular post made me laugh out loud.

Training Day

Bill Whittle posted today about his first day on the job training.

Having had to endure this form of training every two years or so in my current job, I commiserate with Bill. What I appreciate about the folks in my office, though, is the mockery that ensues when the video starts up. Common sense and common courtesy go a lot further for most people.

This Blog is…

ESFP?

ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

That’s really funny, since I usually test as an ISTJ on the MBTI.

Halfway

I can’t remember the link to get into the Ticklish Giggles control panel, so I have to post the latest update here. I’ll cross post it over there later.

So, this week marks the 20 week point in the pregnancy - I’m halfway! Woo!

My appointment this morning was uneventful. The doctor is pleased with our progress. I’m happy to have a completely normal pregnancy this go ‘round. Here are the stats:

Weight: So far I’ve gained a total of 13 lbs, which is really good. It’s so weird to me that I have a hard time managing my weight when not pregnant, but when I am pregnant it’s easy to control.

Uterus: According to the doc, the measurement of my uterus is right on track for 20 weeks. The top of the uterus is right above my belly button, which is getting shallower by the week.

Baby Activity: Off the charts in the past few days. This is a busy baby. The doc put the Doppler on my belly to listen to the heartbeat and immediately got a few thumps from baby feet or hands. The heart rate was in the 140s.

Ovarian Cyst: Looked the same in the last ultrasound. They still plan to leave it alone for now and will reevaluate at delivery.

I’ll have my glucose test after the holidays, for which I’m grateful. I plan to indulge. Also, I’m only 8 weeks away from increasing my doctor’s visits from every 4 weeks to every 2 weeks. That is amazing to me - it seemed to take forever to get to this point, but I have a feeling the last half will fly.

As for my sleeping problem - I have slept better the last few nights so I completely forgot to ask about help with insomnia.

[ADDED LATER]: Still no word on the sex of the baby. We got no cooperation from baby at the last ultrasound and the doc didn’t say anything about another ultrasound anytime soon. We have a shy, mysterious child in there, people.

Church and State Habits

Beau has an excellent post about Church and State Habits. An exerpt:

It seems to me that, like Esther, we each have a job to do, even if it’s not in a palace. Of course, voting in a little booth is a lot less scary than Esther’s approaching the king to speak the truth. But although our involvement in politics is limited, can our involvement be anymore unrelated to God’s plan than Esther’s? Can speaking the truth be secondary to “kingdom” work?

Go read the rest and share your thoughts with Beau.
