The Three Hour Nap

I woke up this morning feeling like I hadn’t gotten the 7 hours of sleep I had just woken up from. But I got up and tried my usual morning routine before getting ready for work. Didn’t work; I was exhausted. So I called My Boss to let him know that I was going to stay home and went back to bed. That was at about 7:15am. I just woke up about 30 minutes ago; feeling refreshed and more normal.

I rarely nap anymore. Three hours is a really long nap for me. I was tired.

Anyway, I’m at home today. But that’s nice because Beau is home, too. It will be nice to have a quiet day with my husband.

I Missed the Ending

So it turns out the audit “exit conference” was about an hour ago and I missed it. Having just read their memo, I’m relieved to say that they found very little wrong. The things they did find were things we were already of, so that was nice confirmation and maybe their report to HQ will help our cause.

Glad to have that done.

Whew!

Almost Over

The “exit conference” with the auditors is at 10am tomorrow.

One of the gals won’t be here for that and she just came by to say good-bye and thanks. I thought that was very sweet of her.

I’ll miss her!

*kidding*

I plan to lounge around tomorrow afternoon after the high stress of this week. Plus I’ve done all my work for the week already so it’ll be a little slow anyway.

AFI 100 Most Inspirational Films

I noticed that there was one of those AFI 100…Films shows on last night when I was surfing before we watched From the Earth to the Moon, but I didn’t stop to see what it was. I wish I had now because it was the 100 Most Inspirational Films and the #1 most inspirational movie is…

...It’s a Wonderful Life.

Awesome.

Chicken Tortolini with Pesto

Dinner last night was easy and delicious.

Chicken Tortolini with Pesto

3-4 chicken breasts, cooked and cut into bite size chunks
1 1lb bag frozen cheese tortolini
1/2 to whole 8oz jar pesto, to taste

Cook the chicken, if you aren’t using leftovers. Cook the pasta. Toss the chicken, pasta, and pesto in a large bowl until the chicken and pasta are well covered with the pesto.

Serve with garlic bread and a salad, if you desire.

Can’t get any easier than that.

I had to make Beau’s with a different pasta since he tries to limit his dairy intake. But he liked it, so it will be repeated in the future.

Yum-may!

Is It Me?

... Or is this a long week? I mean, it isn’t really a long week, but it feels like it is lasting forever.

Maybe it’s the looming doom of the audit.

Maybe it’s the beautiful sun shining outside today.

I’d rather be at home today.

*sigh*

Coming Soon!

Rainier cherries come into season in a couple of weeks.

I can hardly wait.

They are the most delicious, sweet cherries and I can eat pounds of them easily.

Quiet

I’ve got nothing to say today.

It’s been a quiet audit day - no contact with the auditors. My Boss told me that they expect to do the exit session with us tomorrow afternoon, which is excellent news. Friday will be peaceful. And probably boring.

In other news, I have a cake to bake on Friday night for a bridal shower my sister is hosting on Saturday. It’s not a complicated cake, but it will take some time to bake. The decorating will be done on Saturday morning. It’s the same cake we had at our wedding - my signature pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. It’s a heavy cake for summer, but it was requested by the bride and I can’t turn that request down.

Nothing else of interest except that Beau and I started watching From the Earth to the Moon last night. That’s good stuff.

And I finished reading Parachute Infantry : An American Paratrooper’s Memoir of D-Day and the Fall of the Third Reich by David Kenyon Webster and have moved on to A Bridge Too Far by Cornelius Ryan. That’s going to take a while because it’s a large book.

Audits Are Good For Something

So today in my gathering of documents and data for the auditors, I found a rather large error in our financial system. Not that we can do anything to correct it here (I have sent an email inquiry about that to HQ), but at least I was able to make note of my catch of the error before I let them catch it.

And they’ve found other little things, but they were things we were aware of and can’t really fix at this point. So we’ll get dinged, but it’s not like it’ll be a surprise ding. HQ needs to lend a little aid for us to fix these things at this point.

The gals are nice. I’m sure they hate doing this, so I’m trying to be as accommodating as possible.

I have to say that I haven’t been this stressed since before the wedding, though. That was good stress; this is not.

Books: Digital Fortess by Dan Brown

I’m over my Dan Brown fascination with the completion of Digital Fortress.

Honestly, he had me until the end. Even with the terrible dialogue and unnecessarily drawn out plot, he had me. The premise was interesting. The execution was something a 7th grader could have implemented better for his/her English class creative writing project.

Fortunately, I only wasted the already wasted time in my car on that one in audiobook format.

DF gets .5 stars out of 5 (it gets .5 stars for portraying the NSA mostly as a force for good).

I’ve updated my reading list in the sidebar with new things On Deck and in reserve.

Cell Phone Annoyance

I just got off the phone with a guy that wanted information about auto auctions. I gave him the phone number to the auction house that handles our auctions. While I recited the number, he input the number into his cell phone. I got to enjoy the ear piercing beeps of each number as he pressed the buttons on his phone.

Is it me or is that not rude?

I understand the convenience of being able to do that, but it doesn’t mean it’s right to do it.

The President is in Iraq

How much do I love that President Bush made another surprise visit to Iraq? This will be another big boost to the troops and I’m sure the Iraqi government officials with whom he’s meeting will be happy to have that pleasure as well.

The 4400, Season 3

We did watch The 4400 season 3 premiere on Sunday - at a premier party hosted by my parents. The party consisted of my parents, Beau and I, and a couple from church who love the show as much as we do. Actually, we only watched until 10:15pm and then went home to hit the hay - we were both very tired. But the DVR was running, so we watched the last bit of the episode last night.

Lots of new questions raised. I’m looking forward to seeing what progresses this season.
